American Waltham Watch Co, Waltham, Mass., a civil war era "Appleton, Tracy & Co.", 18 size, 15 jewels, key wind and set gilt plate movement with lever escapement, cut bimetallic balance and gold timing screws in a sterling silver, reeded edge, engine turned and engraved hunting case, roman numeral white enamel dial, blued steel spade hands, serial #64745, c1863, with 20th century chain.
CONDITION:
CASE: Case has housed another movement; Minor dings; Minor scratches on outer surface of case; Scratches on inner surface of case and on cuvette; Rear cover snap worn; Engine turning and engraving with moderate wear; Lip on rear cover worn; Band with wear and scratches from case knife; Cover extends beyond 90 degrees when opened, front, 100 deg.; Slight misalignment between hole in cuvette and winding arbor; Precious metal content marked. DIAL: Hairline in enamel, light, 6:00; Minor flakes and chips at edge of dial, concealed by bezel. HANDS: Replaced; A few specks of oxide; Minor bends. MOVEMENT PLATES: Minor scratches on plate; Minor spotting; Regulator and balance stud with minor oxide; Dust guard replaced; One banking screw with marred slot; Specks of dirt.
